Hi!
Thanks for being here!
About Me
HELLLOOOO! Hey! HI! How are ya? I’m Chris! Your friendly neighborhood millennial, neurodivergent and chronically ill girlie trying to manage life and all its super-duper exciting twists and turns.
I’m going to resist the urge to tell you my life story and limit myself to a few hundred words. O_o I was raised by a single mother who worked so hard to raise me as an intelligent, confident woman. I remember sitting with her at work in the summer while she managed a tire shop. Oh how the smell of rubber tires takes me back… oh right, a few hundred words… Anyway, flash forward to when I was about seven. My mom met my dad and they fell in love! This was before email and personal computers. Y2k, don’t know her! So while my parents were dating, my mom and I would drive the six hours to visit my dad and my dad would drive out to visit us. They’d write letters to each other. They were so cute! There’s something really amazing about watching your parents fall in love. Eventually, my mom and I moved away from our hometown to be closer to my dad. Shortly after my dad proposed (on top of a beautiful mountain – how romantic!!!!) and my parents were married shortly after.
One day, my parents sat me down and I remember my dad asking if I wanted to be his daughter. I was really confused because I assumed we already established that part. To make it official, on a hot July summer’s day, my parents and I went to the courthouse where I legally became my dad’s daughter.
For years, I had been asking my parents for siblings. Every Christmas and Birthday, I begged for a sibling. Well, my parents delivered - figuratively speaking. When I was about 9 years old, we had a family meeting where my parents asked me what I thought about becoming a foster family. I WAS ALL IN!!!! BRING ON ALL THE SIBLINGS!!!!!!!! By the time I graduated high school, hundreds of kids lived in our home. I learned so many things about community service but most importantly I learned about true kindness, gratitude, and advocacy. My parents were dedicated to community service & they instilled those values in my own heart. I knew my path involved serving my community, so I made choices for my future to do just that.
I’ve spent the past ten years supporting my community and helping those in need. Most recently, I’ve found my next phase of advocacy includes sharing insightful stories, information, and resources to the masses on the internet in hopes of growing better together as a community. I hope this blog will make you laugh and maybe you’ll learn a little something. <3
